Rocket 911 SW Taylor St

Located at the top floor and roof garden of the LEED platinum Rocket Building, Rocket, the restaurant, was designed for Leather Storrs and Muk Devan as a sophisticated dining room with an outdoor patio and excellent views of downtown Portland. We based the design for the interior space and the restaurant's visual identity on the dual meaning of 'Rocket' as both the arugula plant and a projectile (verb and noun). A field of suspended discs of acoustic panel and translucent acrylic, blown glass and aluminum hoops create a dynamic ceiling that allows for airflow, lighting and sound baffling. The bar is faced with custom cast rocket-flower tiles created by artist Anne Storrs. The bar top is made of salvaged walnut from Sherwood, OR.
